The 2025 Miss Universe pageant in Thailand has been surrounded by significant tension, prompting Nawat Itsaragrisil, vice president for Asia and Oceania of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and head of the local organizing committee, to apologize to the contestants during the Live Opening Ceremony on November 5.
“Everybody knows the past few days have been a lot of pressure. I think you must understand that the pressure is a lot. But I have not intended to harm anyone,” Nawat said.
He expressed respect for the contestants and sincerely apologized for any discomfort caused.
“I respect all of you. But I have to say that I am so sorry that it happened. I want to offer this opportunity to apologise to the delegates if anyone was not comfortable with what happened. I’m sorry.”
Nawat also addressed global fans, offering a heartfelt apology:
“I am sorry for the Miss Universe fans around the world.”
On November 4, Nawat faced criticism for publicly embarrassing Miss Universe Mexico, Fatima Bosch, during a live broadcast. This led reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, and several other contestants to walk out in support of Miss Mexico.
Following the incident, the MUO released a statement reaffirming its commitment to collaborating closely with the host community, the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI), and all local partners to ensure the pageant’s successful continuation.
“The Miss Universe Organization is dedicated to working with all involved parties to guarantee the ongoing success of the event.”
Summary: Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly apologized for the tensions during Miss Universe 2025, emphasizing respect for contestants and promising collaboration to ensure the pageant’s smooth progress.
