Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In recognition of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will offer free transit to veterans and active military personnel on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11.
Who Is Eligible for Free Transit?
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals can access free transit by presenting their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or by appearing in uniform.
How to Use Free Transit
- Veterans and eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card for buses and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will be open from 8 a.m. on November 11.
Additional Observances
TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans for their sacrifices and contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies across the region.
Holiday fares will apply to other customers on November 11.
