Universal Pictures is working on a new film in the popular 'Mummy' franchise, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in talks to reprise their roles, sources tell Deadline.
The project will be directed by Radio Silence team members Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, from a script by David Coggeshall. Veteran producer Sean Daniel will produce alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz previously starred together in two 'Mummy' films:
1999’s The Mummyand
2001’s The Mummy Returns. Both movies, directed by Stephen Sommers, were based on Universal’s iconic monsters and earned over $400 million globally.
Universal is developing a new 'Mummy' film, with Fraser and Weisz possibly returning, directed by Radio Silence, blending legacy stars with modern horror franchise rebooting efforts.
