Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence spoke openly with The Hollywood Reporter about her anxieties regarding the film industry, her evolving creative process, and the emotional toll of promoting her latest movie, Die My Love.
Lawrence, who has endured countless press tours for both blockbuster hits like The Hunger Games and acclaimed films such as Silver Linings Playbook, describes this particular experience as uniquely difficult. The film’s deeply personal subject matter has made promotional interviews especially exhausting for her.
“It feels like your whole diary is about to just be ripped apart by everybody.”
Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay and adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s novel, tells the story of a new mother whose mental health unravels within the isolation of Montana’s wilderness. Lawrence delivers one of her most raw and visceral performances, embodying the character’s psychological descent with startling intensity.
Lawrence shared that her connection to the character has remained powerful long after filming ended. Having welcomed her first child in 2022 and being pregnant with her second during production, she faced the dual challenges of motherhood and postpartum depression while also serving as the film’s producer.
“That was a ride,” the 35-year-old actress reflected.
Promoting the film, Lawrence admits, has stirred complex emotions. She describes the process as “very personal and weird,” emphasizing how exposing it feels to discuss the film’s themes so openly.
Author’s note: Jennifer Lawrence reveals the emotional strain of bringing Die My Love to life, navigating motherhood, mental health, and artistic vulnerability in a role that mirrors her own challenges.
