Annandale Tenant’s Poppy Masterpiece Displayed for Remembrance Sunday

A beautiful tribute of remembrance and community spirit will be showcased at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday. The project was led by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant from Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.

Maureen crafted an exquisite poppy-themed art installation with the help of her daughter and granddaughter. This heartfelt intergenerational project is displayed at the entrance of St Editha’s Church, where Maureen will accompany the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

Community and Creativity in Annandale

Maureen created the poppy display in the communal lounge of Annandale, turning the space into a hub of creativity with support from her family and the Scheme Manager from Tamworth Borough Council. The result is a stunning collection of handmade poppies, each symbolizing the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have given so much.

This tribute is especially meaningful as it reflects Maureen’s own time in service, adding a deeply personal touch to the installation.
