A spokesperson for Turning Point USA incorrectly accused a high school's math department of wearing Halloween costumes that mocked Charlie Kirk, leading to severe online harassment and death threats against the teachers.
On Friday, members of the math department at Cienega High School in Arizona wore matching blood-stained white T-shirts with the phrase “Problem Solved” printed in black on the front. A photo of the group was shared on the Vail School District's Facebook page.
John Carruth, the district’s superintendent, confirmed that no students or parents expressed complaints about the costumes during the school day.
The following day, Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of Charlie Kirk’s show, posted the photo on X, alleging that the teachers were mocking the assassination of TPUSA cofounder Charlie Kirk. Kolvet wrote:
“Concerned parents just sent us this image of what's believed to be teachers in [Vail School District] mocking Charlie's murder. They deserve to be famous, and fired.”
He insinuated that the T-shirts resembled those worn by Kirk when he was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Despite the backlash, the school district maintains that no complaints were reported locally during the event.
“No student or parent complained about the costumes during the school day,” said Superintendent John Carruth.
This incident highlights the dangers of misinformation, as false accusations against educators quickly escalated into serious threats and harassment.
