With about 76% of the countywide votes counted, the Nassau County Legislature is expected to stay under Republican control. The projected composition is 11 Republicans to 8 Democrats.
Before the recent election, the Legislature held an 11-7 Republican majority. One seat, District 15, was vacant after former legislator John Ferretti left to become Hempstead town supervisor. Prior to that vacancy, Republicans held a 12-7 majority.
In the latest election, Democrats managed to flip one seat—District 14—gaining a foothold while Republicans maintain overall control.
The Nassau County Legislature consists of 19 members, each representing one of the county’s 19 districts.
