Several personalities from the Today show are making their first appearances as cohosts on Jenna & Friends this week. Craig Melvin’s debut brought laughter and surprise when he joined Jenna Bush Hager on Monday, November 3, for the fourth hour of the show.
At the beginning of the episode, Melvin looked around and remarked:
“This is a nice set.”
He then unexpectedly admitted:
“You know, I’ve never seen the show.”
The comment caught Bush Hager off guard, and she jokingly responded:
“That is so rude.”
Melvin clarified that his lack of viewing wasn’t intentional, noting that his schedule made it difficult to tune in.
“Well, because usually, we’re just getting off,”
he explained, referring to how the third hour of Today ends right before Jenna & Friends begins. He added:
“I’m usually in transit, but this is nice. I know, I could probably watch some of it.”
Earlier in the show, Melvin took a moment to compliment Bush Hager on her growth and success since Hoda Kotb’s departure from Today in January. He commended her for adapting to a variety of guest cohosts.
“What you have managed to do over the last few months on this show, from just a purely broadcasting perspective, as the kids would say, real recognizes real,”
“To be able to sit next to someone different every day or two and do this, that’s a feat.”
Craig Melvin’s debut on Jenna & Friends mixed humor and honesty, as he surprised viewers with his confession while praising Jenna Bush Hager’s adaptability and charm.
