Two Stunning Poppy Displays Installed in Loughborough Ahead of Remembrance Sunday

Charnwood is located centrally within the triangle formed by Nottingham, Leicester, and Derby. Over one third of the area's population of more than 155,000 live in the vibrant university town of Loughborough.

Two moving poppy displays have been set up in Loughborough as the community prepares to honor its fallen heroes on Remembrance Sunday. These displays are placed on trees located in Queen’s Park and the Forest Road Greenbelt, with each tree adorned by around 6,500 handmade, knitted poppies.

The initiative is spearheaded by Loughborough in Bloom and the Forest Road Greenbelt Gardeners, supported by various volunteering groups and individuals. The trees were decorated in advance of the Remembrance Sunday service scheduled for Sunday, 9 November, in Queen’s Park.

Statements from Organizers and Officials

— The Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr David Northage
“Loughborough in Bloom pays its respects each year to those who have served and lost their lives in the armed forces and it is fantastic to be able to dress the trees in poppies once again.”
