San Antonio – Spurs forward Julian Champagnie swapped his basketball jersey for a Scooby-Doo costume this Halloween to surprise young patients at Methodist Children’s Hospital. Joined by the Spurs' mascot, Coyote, Champagnie handed out candy, took photos, and spent time with children, brightening the hospital's Halloween celebration.
Each year, Methodist Children’s Hospital transforms with unique themes and elaborate decorations. Staff members dress up in costumes to enhance the festive atmosphere. The hospital also hosts a reverse trick-or-treating event, where leadership visits rooms to deliver treats to patients.
The event was made extra special this year by the presence of Julian Champagnie and the Emergency Services Facility Dogs—Lady, Fresca, and Chanel—who wore costumes as a surgeon, witch, and spider.
"I didn’t make a wish, but it felt like one. It was inspirational to see the actual walking dream. I didn’t think I was this special, but he made me feel like I was." – Jamal Magee, patient
