Middlesbrough will honour those who served in wars around the world and gave their lives for peace and freedom. The event will begin with the laying of the First Poppy by Elected Mayor Chris Cooke at the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Road at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 6.
Pupils from local schools will take part by placing poppy crosses on the Field of Remembrance, paying tribute to those who fell in service.
The Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place on Sunday, November 9. The Mayor and other civic dignitaries will attend the event. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to the Cenotaph for the main service, which will conclude around 12:30 p.m.
Those unable to attend can watch the live broadcast of the ceremony through the Middlesbrough Council’s Facebook page.
An Armistice Day service will also be held at the Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11 from 10:45 a.m. A two-minute silence will be observed to mark the occasion.
The services will be led by Reverend David Goodhew, Vicar of St Barnabas Church in Middlesbrough.
