During the second T20 International between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a humorous moment unfolded between Australia's hard-hitting batter Tim David and India's leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy.
In the ninth over, as India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Chakravarthy for his third bowling spell, David and the leg-spinner engaged in a playful exchange. David pulled away as Chakravarthy began his run-up, and in response, the spinner stopped just before delivering the ball. This amused commentators and lightened the atmosphere.
Despite the antics, David managed to take a single from the first ball he faced, but was later caught out attempting another shot in the same over.
"David, a serial six-hitter, had to walk back for only 1 after facing only two deliveries."
Varun Chakravarthy finished with impressive figures of 4 overs, 23 runs, and 2 wickets, including dismissing Tim David and Travis Head. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent Australia from securing a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match T20I series.
Mitchell Marsh, the Australian captain, won the toss and chose to send the Indian team in to bat first.
This playful exchange between Tim David and Varun Chakravarthy added lighthearted fun to a competitive match, highlighting the entertaining side of cricket amid tense T20 action.
