Man pledges charity boost as Brookmans Park street wins huge Postcode Lottery prize

Seven neighbours in Brookmans Park will share a £1 million prize from the People’s Postcode Lottery. The postcode AL9 6PT won the weekly "Millionaire Street" prize.

Winner pledges to support local charity

Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, pledged part of his £250,000 prize to a charity supporting adults with learning difficulties. Steven and his wife Olesya plan to donate funds to help Camphill Milton Keynes, whose minibus was stolen and then burned.

“[translate: The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.]”

Steven added: “[translate: The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.]”

Charity response

Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, described the incident as very distressing for the residents.

“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”

The charity announced on October 9 that their only minibus had been stolen and later found burned.
