Baramulla is a rare supernatural film set in Kashmir, blending mystery with emotional depth. The story begins in November 2016 with the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Shoaib Ansari (Ahmad Ishaq), the son of an MLA (Mir Sarwar).
Following Shoaib's disappearance, Ridwaan Sayyed (Manav Kaul) is appointed as the new DSP of Baramulla. He moves into a vintage mansion with his family—wife Gulnaar (Bhasha Sumbli), son Ayaan (Rohaan Singh), and daughter Noorie (Arista Mehta). Their caretaker, the mute old man Iqbal (Khurshid Mir), watches over them.
While Ridwaan is away investigating, his family experiences eerie supernatural phenomena in their home. The situation worsens when another child vanishes near a lake without a trace, except for a lock of hair left behind. Ridwaan is haunted by the fear that his own children could be next.
The film’s suspense unfolds as Ridwaan delves deeper into these unexplained events, leading to a gripping climax.
The story by Aditya Dhar and Aditya Suhas Jambhale is original, and the screenplay is highly engaging. However, some parts of the writing leave unresolved threads.
"The screenplay is extremely captivating, though the writing has a few loose ends."
Critics have rated the film 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Baramulla stands out as a unique supernatural thriller with an evocative Kashmir setting, offering an engaging story despite minor narrative gaps.
