Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere Review

Before this year, I didn’t consider myself a Bruce Springsteen fan. I knew of him, of course, but my knowledge was limited to «Born in the U.S.A.» and a few other hits. When I learned that Jeremy Allen White would portray him in an upcoming biopic, I decided to explore his music more deeply. I've admired White since his early days on «Shameless», so I was eager to watch the film.

My exploration of Springsteen’s extensive discography quickly turned me into a fan, though still a new one. Unfamiliar with much of the lore and subtleties in his lyrics, I was unsure how engaging the movie would be for me. Yet, after seeing Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere on its opening weekend, I found the story both surprising and captivating, even if it had flaws.

The film excels at portraying an artist deep in the creative process. Rather than covering Springsteen’s entire life, it centers on the period when he was writing Nebraska, his sixth studio album.

“One thing the film does exceptionally well is depict an artist in the midst of creation.”

Overall, the film offers an intimate look at Springsteen’s artistry during a pivotal moment in his career.

Author’s summary: This biopic captures the creative intensity behind Springsteen’s album Nebraska, offering a fresh perspective for both new and longtime fans.
