The highly anticipated 2025 NAB AFLW Finals Series has officially started. Marking the milestone tenth season, the AFL held the finals launch at Yarraville Seddon Eagles FC in Melbourne's west, where the Grand Final medal presenters were also announced.
The finals kick off this Friday night, featuring St Kilda and the West Coast Eagles, both making their debut finals appearances. They will compete alongside seasoned teams including the Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lions, Melbourne, Carlton, and Hawthorn.
North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos, having claimed the 2025 minor premiership, aim to defend their championship title from last year.
For the first time ever, the captain of the winning Grand Final team will be awarded a Captain's Medal, similar to the AFL's Ron Barassi Medal.
Hall of Famer Erin Phillips OAM, a former co-captain of the Adelaide Crows and dual best on ground medalist across three premiership wins, will present the Captain's Medal to the victorious captain.
This historic tenth AFLW finals series features fresh finalists and introduces the Captain's Medal, reinforcing the evolving prestige of women's Australian Football.
