How a YouTube Employee Landed a Role in the Bruce Springsteen Biopic

Mike Chiavaro, a YouTube Music Operations Manager, secretly portrayed Garry Tallent in the Bruce Springsteen biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. His unexpected acting journey unfolded while balancing his day job.

The Surprise Casting Call

Late last year, Mike arrived at work with what he called “gigantic sideburns”—a departure from his usual clean-cut look. Colleagues joked that he had lost a bet, but in reality, Mike had just landed a major acting opportunity.

Shortly before growing the sideburns, he was contacted by the film's casting director searching for someone to play E Street Band bassist Garry Tallent. A lifelong bassist himself, Mike had performed with well-known artists like Richard Marx and Derek Trucks, making him an ideal candidate.
