Nashville Predators forward Ryan O’Reilly, who has six goals and ten points in sixteen games this season, was candid after Thursday’s 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. The 17-year NHL veteran, finishing the night with a goal in 18:54 of ice time, voiced deep frustration after the team’s tenth defeat in thirteen outings.
“We had a chance to take full control of the game and we didn’t; we let them back in and they pushed back,” O’Reilly said. “For myself, a number-one center, I turned the puck over everywhere. I can’t make a six-foot pass to save my life. We’re not going to have much success if I’m playing pathetic like that.”
He admitted feeling at a loss for answers about his play and the team’s struggles.
“I don’t know the answer. I’ve had one good year in my career … I don’t have any answers, that’s for sure.”
When asked about the team’s offensive-zone efforts, O’Reilly kept his focus on results rather than style.
“It’s nice having the puck in the offensive zone, but when you don’t win games, it’s disappointing. I just want to win games — it’s as simple as that.”
The visibly frustrated 34-year-old center made it clear that neither he nor the team is satisfied with recent performances.
Ryan O’Reilly delivered a brutally honest critique of both his own play and the Predators’ struggles after another tough loss, reflecting a veteran’s desperate desire to turn things around.
