During the Stranger Things season five world premiere in Los Angeles, controversy stirred around a viral report claiming Millie Bobby Brown accused co-star David Harbour of harassment and bullying on set. Despite the allegations, Brown and Harbour appeared friendly and smiling together at the event.
“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
- Ross Duffer, Stranger Things co-creator
Shawn Levy, director and executive producer, called some of the viral stories “wildly inaccurate.” When asked about how production handles bullying complaints to ensure safety and respect, he stated:
“At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy emphasize their commitment to a safe, respectful working environment, rejecting bullying claims as inaccurate while expressing close care for their cast.
