Woodslee Remembrance Day Ceremony Honors Veterans
On November 2nd, community members, local officials, and veterans gathered at the Libro Community Centre cenotaph for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony organized by the Woodslee Millen Group. The event served as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by Canada’s armed forces and the lasting significance of remembrance in Lakeshore and throughout Essex County.
Opening Remarks by Essex MP Chris Lewis
“In perilous times, they left the comforts of home and country to fight for our freedom,” Lewis said. “In these unprecedented times, we pause to remember their sacrifice. We gather today, as we have in the past, to honour those who gave so much.”
Attendance of Local Officials
Local dignitaries including Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey and Deputy Mayor Kirk Walstedt were present at the ceremony. Emphasizing the importance of remembrance, one speaker noted:
“Our commitment to honouring our Veterans ensures future generations understand the cost of our nation’s peace and security. To our Veterans and their families, thank you.”
Mayor Bailey reinforced this message by encouraging the community to contemplate the true meaning of Remembrance Day.
