Calgary’s foggy Friday morning transformed into a snowy one, though the change isn’t expected to last long. By around 8:30 a.m., snow began falling in the downtown area as flakes moved from the north toward the south.
Earlier in the day, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) had issued a fog advisory warning of poor visibility and a chance of snow or freezing rain.
“Precipitation was in the forecast for the morning hours, but our temperature stayed just cool enough to keep most of that mix as snow. Once it’s gone, it’s pretty much gone, and as we enter the 9 o’clock hour, we can expect most of that to fully back away,”
Meteorologist Kevin Stanfield from 660 NewsRadio added that daytime highs were expected to reach 3°C, allowing much of the fresh snow to melt quickly.
Drivers are urged to stay cautious on the roads. For continuous weather and traffic updates, residents can tune in to 660 NewsRadio or CityNews 24/7.
Morning fog in Calgary quickly shifted to snow but is expected to melt by midday as temperatures rise to 3°C, easing travel and visibility conditions.
