Edgar Wright is creating a more faithful adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Running Man while reviving the classic art of the DVD commentary. During our interview, Wright shared insights about the film, moments on set, and the unique commentary experience.
One particular scene stood out—not for its emotional weight but for showcasing the physical strength of the actors. Glen Powell and Daniel Ezra appear in sleeveless shirts, flaunting their arms, followed by Lee Pace in a similar look. This moment was a striking display of the cast's fitness and caught Wright’s attention as well.
“It’s funny, we did the commentary for the film the other day and it was actually Glen’s first DVD commentary,” Wright said. “I said something to him, which I didn’t say to him on set, there’s a scene with him and Daniel Ezra who plays Bradley. I said, ‘You guys were really having a gun off this day.’ Glen said, ‘Oh yeah, it was the gun show’ because Daniel is in incredible shape.”
Wright is excited to bring viewers the DVD commentary experience, something becoming rare in modern releases. The commentary adds a behind-the-scenes layer that enhances fans' understanding and appreciation of the film.
