A Calgary man has been charged following an investigation by Cochrane RCMP into a suspected overdose death earlier this month in the Mînî Thnî area of the Stoney Nakoda Nations.
Randall Arsenault, 58, faces charges of trafficking a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Arsenault was arrested in Calgary on October 29, following a joint investigation by the Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Calgary Police Service Gang Suppression Team. During the arrest, officers seized approximately 69.5 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The investigation began in early October after Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose death in Mînî Thnî. The CRU launched efforts to identify the potential source of the drugs involved, which eventually led to Arsenault in Calgary.
