If you are planning to visit the Rockies this weekend, pack more than just hiking boots; a snowsuit might also be necessary. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a snowfall warning for Alberta’s mountain areas.
Heavy, wet snow is expected in Banff and near Lake Louise starting Friday evening and continuing through Saturday night. Snow accumulation could reach between 10 and 15 centimetres over 24 hours.
“Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” the report warned.
For those interested in Alberta's November forecast, current weather watches, warnings, and statements are available on the ECCC weather information portal.
