Tucker Carlson’s amicable interview with white nationalist Nick Fuentes has sparked a significant division within the Republican Party. Fuentes, leader of the America First movement, is known for his antisemitic, racist, and misogynistic beliefs, including Holocaust denial and praise of Hitler.
The split intensified after Carlson, former Fox News host, published a deep interview with Fuentes last Tuesday. During the conversation, Fuentes expressed antisemitic views about the perceived threat of “organized Jewry” in America. Carlson criticized figures such as Senator Ted Cruz and former President George W. Bush, calling them “Christian Zionists” afflicted by a “brain virus.”
The interview prompted backlash. Among the critics was US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who condemned Carlson for providing Fuentes a platform. The dispute escalated when Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, defended Carlson, labeling the critics a “venomous coalition.”
“Tucker Carlson remains and always will be a close friend of the Heritage Foundation,” Roberts said in a video posted to X on Thursday.
The Republican Party faces a sharp internal conflict fueled by controversial alliances and heated debates surrounding extremist figures.
