In the newly released book Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, drummer Denny Seiwell shares a humorous story about Paul McCartney sending baby feces to a journalist.
Published on November 4, the book offers an oral history of Wings, including diary entries, photos, handwritten lyrics, and remarks from notable figures such as Stella McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Martin, Sean Ono Lennon, Chrissie Hynde, Twiggy, and Dustin Hoffman, along with all Wings members.
The detailed narrative explores Wings’ journey—from touring in a school bus to surviving a robbery in Nigeria. Hidden among unseen photos and untold stories is a notable anecdote about Paul and Linda McCartney dealing with a dishonest journalist.
Denny Seiwell describes:
“We take him along to the sound check. We let him on the bus. We let him see how we live and all that. He didn’t stay for the concert. He flew home.”
The journalist had joined the band not to review their music but to write about how Wings brought their families on tour.
This vivid account highlights Paul McCartney's witty way of handling deceit, reflecting the band's rich and often unexpected history on tour.
