Charlamagne Tha God walked off CNN's much-hyped election night special on Tuesday after only 60 minutes, choosing to get some sleep before hosting his morning radio show. The left-leaning Breakfast Club host was part of a two-hour panel discussion that included conservative commentator Ben Shapiro.
Senior CNN Analyst Harry Enten explained that Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, left early "because he has to get up early to host his radio show."
The special livecast also featured tech journalist Kara Swisher and The Young Turks host Ana Kasparian. It was broadcast alongside CNN's regular election coverage as part of All Access, CNN’s new streaming service that launched recently.
Prior to leaving, Charlamagne showed frustration after Enten compared President Donald Trump to "a puppy who lost his way" and questioned whether Trump "has just, completely, fallen by the wayside" as Democratic victories became evident.
"Why do we say that, though?" the radio star challenged the panel.
Charlamagne Tha God abruptly left CNN’s election special due to his radio commitments, after expressing disagreement with panel commentary on President Trump’s performance.
