Veteran Labor powerbroker and Sky News contributor Graham Richardson has died aged 76.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese paid a heartfelt tribute to Richardson, highlighting his significant role in the Labor Party and his work as a Sky News contributor for 15 years.
"He’s someone who I often got advice from and he was always worth listening to," said Mr. Albanese. "He was very much loved within the Labor party, but more broadly as well."
Albanese also praised his intellect and political insight.
"You spoke about the family at Sky News. Everyone who worked with him respected his intellect, his capacity to cut through, and his insight into the way politics worked."
Sky News Australia CEO Paul Whittaker praised Richardson’s commitment despite recent health struggles.
"It is a true measure of Graham's dogged determination, will to live and strength of purpose that he insisted on appearing for his regular segment with Sky News' Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert on Monday morning from his hospital room despite his failing health."
Whittaker described "Richo" as one of the sharpest political minds in Australian politics.
Graham Richardson’s enduring influence and sharp political mind left a lasting legacy in Australian politics and media.
