Wicked: For Good introduces two original songs alongside the existing tracks from the second act of the Broadway musical.
The sequel to the movie musical, which covers the Broadway show's latter half, picks up after Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) sings “Defying Gravity” upon discovering the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud. The story deepens Elphaba and Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) personal quests through new music.
"Both witches are trying to find their way home. Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions." — Jon M. Chu, director
Stephen Schwartz, the composer of the original Broadway musical, wrote both new songs. Audiences had a brief preview during the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special aired on NBC before the Wicked: For Good premiere in November 2025.
Author's summary: Wicked: For Good enriches the story of Elphaba and Glinda with two new songs, revealing emotional layers about their search for home never explored in the stage version.
