Shoshana Bean, who starred in the Broadway production of Wicked, revealed why she has not yet watched Wicked: Part 1, even though the sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set to premiere in theaters this November.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE at the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean shared her reasons for waiting to watch the first film.
“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back,” said Bean, 48. She added that she’s “absolutely” thrilled to see both movies in succession.
Bean portrayed Elphaba on Broadway from 2005 to 2006. She expressed enthusiasm for the film adaptations, particularly the opportunity to see the song “No Good Deed” brought to life on the big screen.
“It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing,” Bean explained. “I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”
Bean looks forward to experiencing the full potential of the songs and story in film form, something she feels the stage cannot fully capture.
Her approach shows dedication to enjoying the films as a continuous narrative, enhancing the overall impact.
Author’s summary: Shoshana Bean is waiting to watch the first Wicked movie until the sequel’s release, eager to experience both films together and see iconic songs fully realized on screen.
