The Golden State Warriors begin their NBA Cup play with a Friday night game against the Denver Nuggets. The tip-off is set for 7:00 PM PT in Denver and will be broadcast on Prime Video.
The Warriors lost their last game on Wednesday to the Sacramento Kings with a score of 121–116. Both teams were missing key players: the Warriors without Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green; the Kings without Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis.
Despite this, Golden State’s young players showed promise. Moses Moody and rookie Will Richard combined for 58 points, driving much of the team’s offense.
"It was Sacramento’s veteran depth that ultimately secured the win, led by Russell Westbrook’s 23-point, 16-rebound, 10-assist triple-double."
After the loss to Sacramento, Coach Steve Kerr addressed the team's high number of turnovers, which allowed 30 points off 19 turnovers in that game. The Warriors are currently ranked fourth in the league with an average of 17.2 turnovers per game.
With this in mind, Golden State is expected to focus on minimizing turnovers in their matchup against Denver.
Author’s Summary: The Warriors face the Nuggets aiming to reduce turnovers and overcome injuries, relying on young talent and returning players to start NBA Cup play strong.
