Wendy’s has announced plans to shut down approximately 300 restaurants across the United States in the coming months. The move follows previous closures of around 150 stores in late 2024, according to company statements and finance platform Investing.com.
The company has not yet specified which Wendy’s restaurants will close, nor did it disclose whether any of the 145 locations in New Jersey—many of which are in South Jersey—will be affected. Customers can use the official restaurant locator tool on Wendy’s website to find active outlets nearby.
“When we look at the system today, we have some restaurants that do not elevate the brand and are a drag from a franchisee financial performance perspective,” interim CEO Ken Cook said. “The goal is to address and fix those restaurants.”
Cook confirmed during a quarterly earnings call on Friday, November 7, that some locations may still be saved, while the closure process will begin later this year.
