Abp Gallagher in Sri Lanka to Mark 50 Years of Relations with Holy See

From 3 to 8 November, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, is visiting Sri Lanka to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with the Holy See and to strengthen mutual commitment to peace and cooperation.

During his visit, Archbishop Gallagher will also visit sites affected by the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, highlighting the ongoing efforts toward healing and solidarity.

Official Reception and Meetings

Upon arrival on Monday, the Archbishop was welcomed by Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arun Hemachandra.

Commemorative Conference

Archbishop Gallagher will participate in a conference focusing on the Holy See’s perspective and commitment to dialogue and peace. This event celebrates the diplomatic ties established on 6 September 1975 between Sri Lanka and the Holy See.
