Mike Smith, best known for his role in the comedy series Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault. According to documents filed in Nova Scotia provincial court, Smith was charged on October 2 in relation to an alleged assault that occurred in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on December 30, 2017, as reported by Variety and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
Trailer Park Boys Inc. acknowledged the allegation in a statement to CBC, confirming that Smith has stepped away from his position as the company’s managing director.
"We recognise how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case."
Mike Smith starred in Trailer Park Boys alongside John Paul Tremblay and Robb Wells. The mockumentary comedy premiered in 2001 on the Canadian TV network Showcase and was later acquired by Netflix in 2014. The series has produced 116 episodes, as well as several films and spin-off series.
