The South Lake Tahoe City Council debated a proposal to alter the city seal for the first time since 1966. Council member Scott Robbins suggested modifying the seal's depiction of Lake Tahoe by adjusting the dotted line to run diagonally at the end, aiming to better represent the actual state borders.
“The city seal has stood as a link between our past and present. It has marked every chapter of our city’s history and remains a powerful emblem of who we are,” said City Clerk Susan Blankenship, expressing her concern about preserving the original seal.
The proposal passed the council with a 3-0 vote and is scheduled for final approval in November.
The South Lake Tahoe City Council is moving forward with a proposal to update the city seal's design, balancing historical significance with geographic accuracy.
