Gurney’s Resorts Announces West Coast Expansion to Lake Tahoe

Gurney’s Resorts Expands to Lake Tahoe

Gurney’s Resorts announced its first West Coast expansion through the acquisition of The Beach Retreat and Lodge in South Lake Tahoe. The property will be reimagined as Gurney’s Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa, scheduled to open in spring 2027 after a complete, multi-year renovation.

Renovation and Future Plans

The extensive transformation will begin immediately at the South Lake Tahoe shoreline. Once complete, the resort will feature 206 rooms and suites, a rejuvenating spa, elevated dining concepts, updated event spaces, and access to a private beach and marina.

Experiences and Setting

Designed to highlight its natural surroundings, the resort will offer engaging outdoor activities all year — from lakeside experiences in summer to seamless access to premier ski destinations in winter.

Connection to Gurney’s Legacy

The Lake Tahoe property will join Gurney’s flagship resort in Montauk, New York, known for its oceanfront setting, acclaimed Seawater Spa, and new signature restaurant gigi's montauk.

“This established legacy of delivering luxury hospitality in iconic coastal environments assures that the new Lake Tahoe resort will be designed to become the definitive four-season luxury destination on the West Coast.”

About Gurney’s Montauk Resort

Situated on a private beach at the edge of Long Island, Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is celebrated for its ocean-fed seawater spa — the only one of its kind in North America — and its reputation as a year-round luxury destination.
