The fourth Twenty20 International between New Zealand and the West Indies was called off due to persistent rain in Nelson after less than seven overs had been played on Monday.
New Zealand continues to lead the series 2–1, with the final and deciding match scheduled for Thursday in Dunedin.
“West Indies had reached 38–1 in 6.3 overs after being asked to bat when a second rain interruption brought play to a complete stop at Saxton Oval.”
Alick Athanaze, who scored 21, was the only player dismissed, attempting to lift a delivery from James Neesham over mid-on but instead offering a simple catch to Daryl Mitchell running back. Fellow opener Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 12, while captain Shai Hope was not out on 3.
Earlier in the series, New Zealand lost the opener at Eden Park in Auckland by seven runs, then leveled the series with a narrow three-run win at the same venue and secured a nine-run victory in the third encounter in Nelson.
