Rosen Flips, Votes to Reopen Federal Government
Senator Jacky Rosen reversed her stance and voted in support of reopening the federal government. The decision came as both Senate Democrats and Republicans reached a tentative agreement to end the nation’s longest government shutdown.
“For the last 40 days, I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to hold President Trump and my Republican colleagues accountable and ensure Congress takes action to prevent a massive spike in health care costs for millions of hardworking families.”
Rosen criticized the ongoing shutdown, describing it as a deliberate tactic by the administration and its allies to harm everyday Americans by suspending essential programs such as SNAP and causing major disruptions to the tourism industry through air travel delays.
“Trump and his Republican cronies on Capitol Hill do not give a damn about hurting working people, and their conduct over the last month has been nothing short of appalling.”
She noted that a central concession achieved through negotiations was a commitment to vote on a Democratic bill aimed at extending Affordable Care Act tax credits.
“Let me be clear: I will keep fighting like hell to ensure we force Republicans to get this done.”
