The judges of My Kitchen Rules, Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel, shared their views with TV WEEK about the biggest controversies of the 2026 season. Like most reality shows, this one also stirred debates among fans, especially revolving around two notable issues discussed online.
Earlier in the season, contestant Michael, known as the “Meat Master,” expressed frustration upon discovering that Jacinta did not eat meat. During one cooking challenge, he prepared a duck curry. Jacinta was courteous enough to sample the sauce, but she let her cousin Mel handle the duck meat.
“My personal reason I don’t eat meat is because it doesn’t really react well with my body,” she told TV WEEK. “I get reactions, inflammation, and it affects my skin. I just didn’t want to compromise my health.”
This disagreement led Michael to question whether Jacinta should have joined the competition at all, which quickly fueled larger discussions among viewers on social media.
When asked about the controversy, both Colin and Manu stated that vegetarian and vegan contestants are always welcome on My Kitchen Rules. They believe that dietary and religious differences reflect the diversity of real life.
“In the world we live in, vegetarianism and religious choices in food are just life,” said Colin. “It’s a true spanner in the works — and I quite like the spanner in the works — but that’s life.”
