BBC Children in Need’s mascot, Pudsey, stars in a 25-minute animated special airing on CBeebies, BBC One, and BBC iPlayer this December. The special, Pudsey and the Thread of Hope, explores the journey of a young boy coping with the loss of his father, discovering healing through friendship, courage, and love alongside Pudsey.
Produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family and Creative Conspiracy, the animation is based on a story by Tom Fletcher. Featured voice talents include Ashley Banjo (Diversity), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), Shini Muthukrishnan (Blue Peter), and Nikesh Patel (Star Struck).
The animation follows the release of a paperback picture book of the same name by Fletcher, published by Puffin. Both the book and the animation mark 40 years of Pudsey’s legacy and celebrate the impact of BBC Children in Need.
CBeebies Parenting has created accompanying resources offering advice and guidance to help families discuss grief and loss with children in a compassionate and age-appropriate way.
