Last week, Canadians were surveyed about their views on 12 prominent figures from politics, sports, activism, and entertainment. The results highlight significant polarization around some celebrities and a strong dislike for the current American president.
Earlier this year, Trump's supposed endorsement of former NHL star Wayne Gretzky as "governor" sparked anger among some Canadians. In 2023, 76% of Canadians had a favorable opinion of "The Great One," but this dropped 29 points to 47% this year.
The favorability rating of Mario Lemieux also declined, though less sharply than Gretzky's.
