Introducing The New Man At Balmain: Antonin Tron

Antonin Tron, founder of the Parisian brand Atlein, is the new creative director of Balmain starting this month. He succeeds Olivier Rousteing, who led the house for 14 years and increased its revenues tenfold.

Antonin Tron's Background and Style

At 41, Tron is known for Atlein’s artisanal draping and jersey manipulation, praised for its craftsmanship comparable to Alaïa’s. His work reflects a respectful and thoughtful approach to femininity, influenced by feminist, gender, and environmental thinkers and artists.

Hamish Bowles described Atlein’s jersey work as “as good as Alaïa’s” during Vogue’s September 2016 feature on Tron.

Vision for Balmain

Tron will present his first collection for Balmain’s autumn/winter 2026 season in March 2026.

“Balmain has a truly inspiring history,” Tron said. “At its heart, the house embodies savoir-faire, culture, sensuality and elegance – fashion that is radiant, precise and bold. This resonates deeply with me, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to build on this incredible legacy.”

Matteo Sgarbossa, Balmain’s CEO, commented on Tron’s appointment:

“We are thrilled to welcome Antonin to the house of Balmain. Antonin’s approach to design, rooted in the art of draping and the physicality of fabric, marks a continuation of Pierre Balmain’s foundational belief that ‘dressmaking is the architecture of movement.’”

Summary

Antonin Tron’s appointment at Balmain merges his refined craftsmanship and modern femininity with the house’s historic elegance, continuing its legacy of innovative fashion design.
