Police are investigating a shooting that injured three people at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose/Santa Clara on Friday evening, during Black Friday. The victims included one adult male, one adult female, and a 16-year-old girl, all of whom were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
San Jose police emphasized that the shooting was not a random act targeting shoppers, but an isolated incident between two individuals that escalated after an argument outside Macy's. Sgt. Jorge Garibay stated:
"We can say for a matter of fact that this was not unsuspected shoppers that were targeted, this was an isolated incident with two individuals, and unfortunately two others were injured. And this shouldn't stop people from enjoying their holiday."
