The Trump administration has announced that it will not provide financial assistance to struggling farmers until the government shutdown ends.
According to Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins, the administration needs to reopen the government to move forward with the aid package. On September 28, 2025, $13 billion was transferred from the Commodity Credit Corporation account to fund the package, but the terms and size have not been announced.
“Once we do that, we’ll be able to move out a significant program to help our farmers,”
Rollins stated. The Secretary and President Trump have blamed the sluggish farm economy on former President Joe Biden’s inaction.
Democrats have criticized the decision, stating that Trump and Rollins are betraying U.S. farmers.
