Chuck Collins Retires After 50 Years
Chuck Collins, chief meteorologist at WEEK-TV, is set to retire on October 15, after dedicating 50 years to broadcasting weather forecasts to the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal TV market.
Collins expressed that he will miss connecting with the community the most, particularly talking to kids about weather. He would often visit schools, speaking to grade school kids about weather as part of their curriculum.
“The biggest thing I’m going to miss is talking to kids about weather. During the school year I would go to two or three schools a week talking to kids, especially grade school kids,”
Collins also engaged with the community through talks at churches and other gatherings, and even casual conversations during his daily life.
