Prime Minister James Marape announced that Papua New Guinea's new National Rugby League (NRL) franchise, joining the competition in 2028, will be called the PNG Chiefs.
The announcement was made at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby during the pregame remarks of the PM's XIII main game.
The PNG Chiefs will join the NRL competition in 2028.
