Girls Tennis: Haley Larson places 4th in singles at section meet
Crookston defeats the Panthers 6-1 in the quarterfinals in the team tournament.
Haley Larson capped off the season by placing fourth in singles at the Section 8A girls tennis tournament at Courts Plus on Saturday.
The Park Rapids eighth grader entered as the No. 4 seed and opened with wins over No. 13 Hattie Truax of Parkers Prairie (6-1, 6-0) in the first round and No. 5 Logan Brekken of Crookston (6-1, 6-3) in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Ronnie Noska of Staples-Motley defeated Larson 6-0, 6-1, and No. 2 Ruby Leach of East Grand Forks won the championship match.
Park Rapids’ MaKenna Maanum received the No. 8 seed and opened with a 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 9 Lauren Tull of Crookston before being eliminated with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Noska.
Both Park Rapids doubles teams were eliminated in the first round.
