The Carthage Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Maple Leaf Festival, which runs through Sunday, October 18th.
The festival, which began on October 10th, offers a variety of events, including a large parade, live entertainment, vendors, petting zoos, and arts & crafts.
"It's a nine-day festival, and we welcome all of our visitors from all over the region," said Julie Reams, president/CEO of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce. "We have over 100,000 people that partake in all of our activities throughout the whole week."
The festival, which started in 1966 as a marching band competition, celebrates the beauty of the area's maple trees in the fall, earning Carthage the title of America's Maple Leaf City.
Each day of the festival features different events highlighting the local community, with over 100,000 attendees expected throughout the week.
