Audi is reportedly working on a luxury off-road SUV to compete with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Land Rover Defender.
The new SUV would slot above the road-focused Q7 and Q9, with CEO Gernot Döllner hinting at its development, saying
"stay tuned"to Autocar.
"there is potential"for such a model, adding
"I think there is a space for a third one".
Despite potentially lower sales than the Q7 and upcoming Q9, Döllner believes
"there is no niche banner", indicating a market for the new SUV.
Audi recently revealed the Activesphere, an electric off-road concept, further hinting at the brand's interest in off-road vehicles.
