Experts Voice Fears as Ethics and Integrity Commission Goes Live

Anti-corruption experts have warned that reforms underpinning the creation of the new Ethics and Integrity Commission (EIC) do not guarantee the watchdog's effectiveness.

The EIC, chaired by Doug Chalmers, has taken on the previous remit of the Committee on Standards in Public Life and additional roles.

Reforms do not go far enough to guarantee the watchdog's effectiveness.

The establishment of the EIC was a Labour Party manifesto pledge in the last general election.
